Dear Parents:
I am reaching out to inform you of our Halloween plan for this school year. As you can guess, our Halloween festivities will look considerably different then they have in years past. COVID will not permit us to allow parents into the building to help celebrate. Class parents will be selected shortly (we will have two per class and you will be notified by Mrs. Hurni). October 30th is a 12:15pm dismissal.
The day will begin with our Halloween show by our PreK-4 class in the Great Outdoor Learning Center at 8:30am. Both classes will participate in the show together. I ask students to only bring two guests. Families will need to spread out and maintain social distancing. Older students WILL NOT be called out of class to watch the show.
This year we will have two separate parades to limit the amount of children outside at once and the number of parents/family members on campus. The Kindergarten through Second Grade will begin promptly at 9:30am. We ask parents to spread out along the route. Once the parade is concluded I ask parents to return home.
At 11am Grades 3-5 will begin their parade. Once their parade is concluded parents may return to their cars and wait until dismissal. Once class parents are selected we will ask them to provide teachers a Halloween activity that can be completed indoors or outdoors. They may also provide a pre-wrapped Halloween treat for the children to enjoy at school along with an appropriate drink (Bottle of Water or Juice Box). No parents will be permitted to enter the building. If the teacher decides to stay outside for their activities ONLY the two class parents may stay and assist. No students will be permitted to leave immediately after the parades. Dismissal will begin promptly at 12:05. Taking children before dismissal causes security issues in the Main Office.
Middle School students will have Halloween events planned by their teachers and class parents.
In the case of inclement weather, the PreK show and parades will be cancelled.
I am sorry for so many restrictions, but our primary goal is to keep our students and staff healthy.
Sincerely,
Kevin Donahue
