THEN...use that info to answer the question asked...this can get tricky bc the later step is key to assuring the proper question is being answered! 7th grade classes: Both classes began a Halloween inspired mash up graded worksheet to reinforce integer rules and calculations with graphing on the coordinate plane. 8th grade Algebra 1st period: Today we reviewed multistep equations again. Homework: complete practice C for h/w (two step/multi step equations)...show all work for full credit. Due to scheduling difficulties...our quiz will take place on Monday.
8th grade Adv. Algebra 4th period: Today we learned that equations can not only have one solution as they have had all long in our journey but, they can also yield a false statement or true statement which lends itself to solutions that are 'no solution' and 'infinitely many solutions', respectively. 7th grade: Today was a catch up day as students turned in their project components. Truth be told, I am a bit surprised at the amount of students who did not turn their project in or only did one part....over 10 days was given to complete and 2 1/2 work days in class. In class, student did work on the properties quizizz to help cement that information as well as an expressions assignments on Moby Max. Tonights h/w: 1. complete back of packet in which you are using substituion of values of given variables to evaluate expressions. 2. finish Moby Max expressions lessons by Monday and 3. turn in any late components to the project (anything turned in now, is considered late). 7th grade: Today we learned about inequalities and how to differentiate from expressions and equations as well as how to use substitution to evaluate expressions. Tomorrowmore work on this. 8th grade: Today we finished up our talks on scientific notation and begain looking at properties of equality used to solve equations. This starts up our equations unit which will be quite comprehensive. Several techniques are used to solve a variety of equations and an emphasis on 'showing work' is made to show sequence of work. This proves to be a valuable skill as equations get progressively more difficult.

7th grade: Today students learned the rules for mult/div. integers and had lots of practice to utilize thembe careful for sign of final answer and make sure your facts are on point. Homework: complete back page of packet#150 (they had a big head start in class) and study for the +/ quiz tomorrowthe last few probs in the packet will help you refresh and be ready for it!!
8th grade Algebra: Today we worked on working with the exponent rules23 problems were done together as a classthey have plenty to look at for reference. . Viewing the Edpuzzle last night was a huge success! Homework: finish page 1 of packet and 1120 on next page; quiz on Friday on exponent rules

Tuesday, Sept 27
7th grade: Today was a review day for adding and subtracting integers. They are certainly taking hold of that topic and we are ready to move on tomorrow to mult/division. Homework: complete graded ws...it's in the wkbk p. 143144 #122..follow all directions for full credit.
8th grade Algebra: Today we reviewed the zero exponent and negative exponent rules. HOmework: a Module on edpuzzle is on Google classroomview, interact with the questions and take notes. WE will pick up tomorrow with additional rules of exponents. Quiz on Friday on rules of exponents.
Monday, Sept 25
7th grade: Today we worked on Moby max for about 15 min then played a game outside to help with integersfrom easier problems to challenges!! Congrats to all...not only did you do a great job but, I was extremely impressed with your ability to work cooperatively with your groups. Homework: finish p. 133134 in your book and quiz on +/ integers will be on Thursday now.
8th grade Algebra: Today we learned the zero exponet rule as well as the negative exponent rule. Homework: finish practice B for negative exponent in packet

7th grade: Today we practiced more problem solving with subtraction of integers. Students worked on a Quizizz at end of class...please finish for h/w HW: finish quizizz

Thursday, Sept 23
7th grade: Today we learned some specific rules of subtracting integers...and practiced this strategy in class. Students have a 'cheat sheet' which they can keep in their folder....we will tackle the multiplication and division rules next. Tonight's h/w: complete practice C in packet for subtracting integers Quiz next Wed on +/ integers
8th grade Algebra: Today we practice a bit more with the distributive property. I discussed all that is covered on the quiz tomorrow and students had their graded ws returned. I have posted a review quizizz on Google classroomoptional ...posted as requested for a bit of extra practice Homework: study for quiz; finish video viewed in class (students had 13 min left) and try to attack odd problems on simplifying expresions ws. Note: tomorrow's quiz is short and students will be given 25 min to complete.
Wednesday, Sept. 22
7th grade: Today we did additional practice with integers as well as looked at integer vocabulary to support our work with application level problems. Tonight's homework: complete middle page of the packet (front and back)...optional and if you ar eup to a challenge, do practice C as well. Keep up with Moby Max...the adding integers module should be done by Friday. On the horizon: next week we will have a graded worksheet due on Tues. (handed out Mon) and a quiz on adding/subt integers on Wed with another multiplication and division of integers quiz on Friday. (you'll be prepared...trust me!)
8th grade Algebra: Today we learned to collect like terms to simplify expressionsthis piggybacked off of yesterday's lesson where students learned how to use the distributive property. It is important to pay attention to signs and collecting like terms accurately. Homework: complete the packet in it's entirety for hw tonight (a lot of it was done in class. Tuesday, Sept 21
7th grade: Today we practiced adding integers...practice, practice, practice!!! And they worked on a module in Moby Max. Homework tonight: complete front and back of packet that was handed out today. Hints for the word problems: negative numbers are denoted with the following words: overdrawn, charge, withdrew, dropped, lost, spent, spend whereas positive words may include: deposits, gained, earned, etc.
8th grade Algebra: Today we practiced using the distributive property. Homework: complete both sides of property worksheet (handed out in class today) and finish 3 column integer worksheet (only column 3 is left for h/w). Heads up: Quiz on Friday (see Monday for what is covered)

8th grade Algebra classes: Today we talked about the properties frequently used in Algebra Homework: in your packetfinish pg. 18 #16 and define the following words: term, constant, coefficient, like terms and distributive property (found on p. 19 at top of page). 7th grade: Today we introduced basic integer addition by way of number lines and explored various vocabulary words which are prominent in the real world that are directly involving integers (pos/neg). Homework: complete p. 106 and 107 in the workbook
8th grade Algebra: Today we explored square roots and solved challenging order of operations problems. In addition, a Quizizz was used to review the real number system and many kids asked for it to be reposted for additional practice....it is linked on Google classroom if you wish to look at it again. Homework: Graded worksheetplease complete it acccording to the directions written on the page. Neatness counts as does showing all of your work.

It was interesting...some great dialogue between students today...and a lot of 'aha' moments!
