My name is Nicholas Cammarano and I am so grateful for the opportunity to lead St. Benedict School as your principal. My passion is education and I come from a family of
educators that includes my father, my brother, and my beautiful bride! I grew up in Monmouth Beach and West Long Branch and I attended Shore Regional High School. After graduating
from Monmouth University in 1997, ironically, I was hired right here in St. Benedict School as a sixth grade teacher! After a fantastic year at St. Benedict, I returned to my hometown, teaching
grades four and five at Frank Antonides School in West Long Branch. I enjoyed a twenty year teaching career while coaching football at Shore Regional High School and boys’ basketball at
Frank Antonides School. In 2008, I was chosen by my peers as Teacher of the Year from the West Long Branch School District. I went back to Monmouth University and received my Masters in Educational Leadership in 2016. In November 2018, I began my administrative career at University Heights Charter School in Newark, fulfilling the roles of assistant principal
and principal, grades five and six. Just before the pandemic, in February 2020, I was hired in
the Perth Amboy School District as vice principal at their alternative high school.
Over the past year, I had been searching and praying for a principal position at a Catholic School, as I had been wanting to return to a school environment that provides students with a strong faith foundation. Having faith in the Lord, I knew he would guide me and help me find what I had been searching for. My prayers were definitely answered! I am truly humbled and honored to be back at such a wonderful place where I began my educational career. I know that I am ready to lead students as they begin and continue their educational and spiritual journey. As our mission and philosophy states, I am certainly “faith-filled and committed” to our students and staff here at St. Benedict School. Our purpose at St. Benedict School - to provide students with a Catholic education that will serve as a “Foundation of Life” will be ever present and unwavering.
Peace and Blessings,
Nicholas J. Cammarano, Principal
St. Benedict School
